An adjustable head voicing piano tool is a tool for changing the tone, not the pitch.
What voicing is;
When a piano hammer hits the string, the hardness of the felt on the hammer determines how bright or mellow it sounds. Over time, or from the factory, hammers can get too hard and make the piano sound harsh, bright, or brittle.

Voicing is the process of poking the hammer felt with very fine needles to increase its elasticity and soften it, which mellows the tone. It can also be done in reverse — hardening felt — but needle voicing is for softening.

It's delicate work. Poke in the wrong spot or too deep and you can ruin a hammer, which is why it's usually done by technicians and advanced hobbyists.

What the "adjustable head" part does:
A basic voicing tool is just a handle with needles sticking out. An adjustable-head version is more controllable:
Ours holds 4 needles — each needle is held by its own screw and is replaceable. The Head rotates into 3 different positions to accommodate individual voicing techniques. The adjustable head lets you set the needle angle and depth, making it easier to achieve consistent voicing across all hammer positions.

Why that matters:
Inside a piano, the hammers are crammed together at different angles. Sometimes you need to come at a hammer from straight above, sometimes from the side, sometimes under the strings. Being able to click the head to a new angle means you can prick the felt evenly — usually in the "shoulders" of the hammer, not the very striking point — without pulling the whole action out.

In short: it's a small handle with a chrome-plated, rotatable head of needles that lets one soften hammer felt in a controlled, repeatable way to take the harsh edge off the sound.
